Maine has awesome campgrounds, but there are also cool free places to camp all over the state! These spots might not have all the fancy stuff like regular campgrounds, but they give you privacy and often amazing views!
You can grab a spot on a first-come, first-serve basis, but keep in mind that some places allow trapping, so keep your dogs on a leash.
Don't cut down live trees – use dead ones or get local firewood (using wood from other states is a no-no). And if you want a fire, you usually need a permit, so check with the property manager for the scoop.
