General Camping Rules
If you're planning a visit to Wisconsin State Park System properties, here's the lowdown on some general camping rules:
Winter Camping:
Not all properties offer camping during non-summer months. Seasons vary.
Winter camping requires reservations. Check the Wisconsin State Park System reservation website.
Seasonal Water Systems:
Water systems may not be available fall through spring. Contact the property office for details.
Reservations:
Required for all campsites. Book up to 11 months in advance. Do it online or call 1-888-947-2757.
Vehicle Admission Sticker:
Required for all motor vehicles.
Cancellations:
Can be made online or by calling 1-888-947-2757.
Full refund of camping fees for cancellations before 3 p.m. Central Time two days before the reservation. After that, refund of camping fees for all but the first night.
Vehicles and Tents at Sites:
Motor vehicles restricted to designated parking.
No more than two motor vehicles per campsite.
Only one recreation trailer, pickup camper, or motor home per site.
Check-In/Check-Out Time:
3 p.m. for all outdoor campsites. Early setup allowed if the site wasn't occupied the night before.
Automatic Check-In:
Proceed directly to your reserved campsite after 3 p.m. DNR staff may verify check-in periodically.
Yellow Phones:
Available at many properties for connecting with reservation agents or services.
Reservation agents available from 9 a.m. to 11 p.m. (April 1 to Oct. 31) and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. (Nov. 1 to March 31).
Occupying the Campsite:
Must occupy the reserved campsite by 3 p.m. on the second day of the reservation. Campers on first-come, first-served sites must occupy the site the first night.
Camping Party:
Family campsite occupancy: parents with dependent children and not more than two guests or a group of not more than six persons.
Length of Stay:
Max 14-day stay in any 21-day period.
Minimum Stays:
Advance reservations booked prior to May 15 require a minimum two-night reservation for stays between May 15 and Oct. 31. Minimum three-night reservation on holiday weekends.
Extending a Stay:
Extensions allowed if the site is available.
Must be made through the property office or reservation system.
Leaving Early:
Refunds may be available if you decide to leave early.
Switching Campsites:
Can be done through the property office or the reservation system.
Canceling and reservation fees apply.
Hours:
