1. South Snug Harbor
The boat rental site in Snug Harbor South runs smoothly, with 90 boat rentals and holding one out of the many largest rental fleets for boating by the lake. Also, it provides bow riders, sport decks, and pontoon boats for rent.
There’s also 2- and 4-hour rental time and full-day and multi-day rentals with boats that accommodate 6 to 12 passengers. All rentals include a single-person tube and water skis, and for a modest cost, one can also rent kneeboards, wakeboards, and double lines.
There’s also a petrol dock and a very little ship store loaded with yummy grabs like soda, chips, and equipment like marine supplies and camping tools, all at each port.
2. Ausable Chasm
There was a chasm 15,000 years ago, just after the last Ice Age (Pleistocene). Before the first flight at Kitty Hawk, before the First World War. This was before theme parks and roller coasters, where there was Ausable Chasm before the Winter Olympics were formed.

Are there Rules and Regulations at Lake George?
Yes. The Lake George Island Campgrounds (Glen, Long, and Narrow Islands) are boat-only campgrounds on Lake George. Dogs are not permitted on any of the islands, ports, or vessels docked.
Visitors to the Lake George Area should be informed of the steps they can take to reduce the movement of aquatic invasive species. For more information, please visit the Protect Lake George website (live link on the right) and DEC Fisheries.
A $3/night garbage surcharge will be enforced on Lake George Island camping licenses beginning immediately. The levy must pay increased operational costs and allow the Department to continue its current waste management program on Lake George. This charge is included in the nightly camping cost.
Campers on Lake George Island (Glen, Long, and Narrow Islands): You can now register at the DEC's office at the Norowal Marina on Sagamore Road in Bolton Landing, in addition to the usual sites.
The DEC's Sagamore Road office phone number is 518-644-9125. (exiting the DEC website). The Lake George Islands, located on the "Queen" of American Lakes, Lake George, provide campers with a one-of-a-kind experience.
Lake George Islands campsites are only accessible by boat and scattered around the lake. They are classified into three categories: Glen, Long, and Narrow. To make site registration as easy as possible, each organization has its headquarters, so after deciding where to camp, you must go to a private marina to park and launch your boat.
Both are normally charged a fee. Fishing, hiking, bird watching, boating, and sailing are various activities available to campers. Please remember that dogs are prohibited on any islands, docks, or vessels moored at docks.

1. Boating
Lake George is 32 miles long, 3 miles broad at its widest point, and 195 feet deep at its deepest point. It has some of the best recreational boating options in the Northeast. On the lake, all sorts of watercraft are permitted.
The lake's long, narrow shape makes it vulnerable to strong winds and quick storms. Be aware of weather warnings and get off the water if the situation is dangerous. Always use the proper vessel. Canoes are great for paddling along the coast, but a robust boat is recommended for paddling out in the middle.
Before sailing, boaters should get a Lake George Power Squadron hydrographic chart from a local marina. The depth of the water varies widely, from sandy shoals to submerged islands to precipitous drops.
2. Fishing
Lake George's water allows light to penetrate extraordinarily deep. This results in a two-tiered fishery, with landlocked salmon and lake trout found at 50-180 foot depths, while bass and pike congregate in weed beds, particularly in protected places like bays and surrounding islands.
Pan fishing is enjoyable near the shore, but for deeper waters, a stable boat with a motor is required. Fishing licenses are no longer sold at our campsite facilities but can be obtained conveniently online or by phone.
3. An Outdoor Picnic
Picnics are allowed in approved day-use sites. The Lake George Islands Day Use website has more information. Campgrounds with facilities frequently have a variety of lodgings to accommodate different comfort levels.
