Comfortable

This backpack is a gem - comfortable with ample space. You can access the main compartment from the top or back, and there are handy pouches on the back, top, and waist straps. Plus, it comes with a rain cover. It's proven its worth in the Sierra Nevada range, and my son's has performed brilliantly too.

Big Enough

Last year, my Cascade 90 was the MVP of a high-stakes backpacking season with the Boy Scouts. It’s got more compartments than a bee hive, but it's not as tough as it pretends to be. This year, it's showing wear and tear like a retired wrestler. Water bottles barely fit in the pockets, the sternum strap is shorter than a goldfish's memory, and the zippers have waved the white flag. My scouts bought Alps packs on my say-so (no returns, guys!). Now, I need a new pack for Philmont. Cascade's size is great, but if it can't handle two seasons, it's a paper tiger!

Fantastic bag

Snagged this bag from Sport Saber for a stellar price of $289, hoping for a spacious pack to fit all my gear. While it's a fantastic bag, the straps could be sturdier for the weight it claims to hold. That said, I'm smitten with it and plan on getting some reinforcement done on the stitching. A solid purchase overall!

Own 4 of these packs

Alps Backpacks are truly remarkable. I own four - three Cascade 90s and a Caldera 90. They've survived Philmont, with one even making the trip twice, without any hiccups. Their tents too are impressive, enduring countless campouts and years of rough use. A reliable companion for any adventurer!
